The Cherokee Drug Endangered Children (DEC) team is happy to announce they were awarded a grant from the Cherokee County Legacy Foundation. This grant allows the DEC team to expand its efforts beyond helping substance abuse families only. We are now offering our services to low-income and at-risk families as well. The DEC team is utilizing the grant funds to help families pay to enroll their children in the following activities:

  1. School-sponsored sport/activities
  2. City sponsored sports/activities
  3. Cherokee Wellness Center day passes
  4. Swimming pool, bowling alley, etc. passes
  5. Sports equipment/gear/clothing

$50 limit per family and is for Cherokee County residents only. Contact Alisa Dixson at (712) 225-6723 ext 106 for more information!

  3. 93% of the 2007 graduation class continued their education at a post secondary institution, where the state average is 82.5%
  4. Student to Teacher ratio is 12:1
  5. Cherokee is the county seat of Cherokee County and is about 55 miles east of Sioux City
